Alfredo Ferreira

Alfredo Ferreira is an Assistant Professor at the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), University of Lisbon. He received his Ph.D. (2009), MSc (2005) and BS (2002) degrees in Information Systems and Computer Science from IST/TU Lisbon. He is also a researcher of the Visualization and Intelligent Multimodal Interfaces Group at INESC-ID since 2002. He works on 3D object retrieval and on multimodal and calligraphic interfaces. He participated in the SmartSketches and Eurotooling21 EC funded projects and is now involved in the MAXIMUS project, focusing his research on multi-user, large-scale and multi-display environments. At the national level he participated in the DecorAR project, being responsible for the 3D retrieval workpackage and is now responsible for the 3DORuS project, focusing in 3D object retrieval using sketches, and participating on MIVIS project, which focused on procedural modeling.

Manuel J. Fonseca

Manuel J. Fonseca is an Associate professor at the at the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Science, University of Lisbon, Portugal. He received PhD degree in Computer Science and
Engineering from IST/Technical University of Lisbon in 2004, discussing “Sketch-based retrieval in large
sets of drawings”. He has been a member in National and European projects, including
SmartSketches, Eurotooling21 and SATIN, being responsible for INESC-ID participation in
the last two. From 1998 until now he is a researcher at INESC-ID’s Visualization and
Intelligent Multimodal Interfaces Group, being responsible for the scientific area of
Multimedia Information Retrieval and Visualization. His research interests are in
Multimedia Information Retrieval using sketches, Information Visualization, Gesture and
Shape Recognition and Calligraphic Interfaces, with 50+ technical papers published in
these and other areas.

João Machado

João Machado was a Master's student in Information Systems and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon, finishing his studies on November 2013, after completing his BSc in 2011 in the same university. He is currently working on a track for the SHape Retrieval Contest 2013 (SHREC) focusing on the retrieval of 3D models captured with a low-cost depth camera (Track Website), as part of his thesis project.

Pedro Pascoal
Pedro Pascoal is a researcher of the Visualization and Intelligent Multimodal Interfaces
Group at INESC-ID, since April 2011. He received his MSc (2011) and BEng (2010) degrees in Information
Systems and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Ténico, Technical University of
Lisbon. He's developing the Immersive Object Retrieval (Im-O-Ret).

Tiago Lourenço
Tiago Lourenço was a researcher of the Visualization and
Intelligent Multimodal Interfaces Group at INESC-ID from March 2010 to May 2011. He received his MSc (2010) and BSc (2009) degrees in Information Systems and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon.
He developed the Shape Analysis Workbench (ShaAna WB) and was also responsible for the construction of the 3DORuS project website.

Raquel Costa
Raquel Costa was a researcher of the Visualization and Intelligent Multimodal Interfaces Group at INESC-ID,
from April to December 2010. She received her MSc (2010) and BSc (2008) degrees in Information Systems and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon.
She developed the CaS: Collection-aware Segmentation algorithm.

Paulo Gomes
Paulo Gomes was a researcher of the Visualization and Intelligent Multimodal Interfaces Group at INESC-ID
during 3 months, from January to March 2011. He received his MSc (2010) and BSc (2008) degrees in Information Systems and Computer Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico, Technical University of Lisbon. He
worked on a new interface for the Shape Analysis Workbench (ShaAna WB).
